The Oilers have acquired 10 year NHL vet Nick Schultz from the Minnesota Wild in a deal that sees the two teams swap defensemen. Going the other way is 28 year old Tom Gilbert, a native of Minneapolis Minnesota.
Schultz is 29, has played his entire career with the Wild after being drafted 33rd overall in the 2000 NHL Draft. The Saskatchewan native told TSN that he is looking forward to joining the team he once cheered for, “I’m excited to go to Edmonton, they are an up and coming team “ said the 6’1 , 200 pound defenseman after he practiced with the Wild this morning. “Its an organization I watched growing up and cheered for, I’m excited to get there and get a fresh start”
Schultz, who has 1 goal and 3 points in 62 games this season , is not expected to play tonight for the Oilers in Winnipeg. (5pm Face Off Show on 630 CHED) (ms)
