Keith Urban bought a present to give to his wife, Nicole Kidman in the delivery room — a $73,000 Cartier Trinity ring! To see what it looks like - scroll down and click on "Read Full Post" for the pic.
The three intertwined rings are set with multi-colored pavé diamonds to represent the three stages of a relationship: yellow gold for friendship, rose gold for love and white gold for fidelity.
Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes apparently own the same ring, according to news reports. The Trinity ring was created by Cartier in 1924 and is still one of its most recognized designs today.
This makes it a little tough for all the other husbands and dads out there! As Sean said when I mentioned the story in my newscast, "What's wrong with a card that says Hey Hon, Way to Go!" Ha ha ha! Oh, Burkie.

I still remember the day I tried to send my first cell phone text a few
years ago, I think it took me an hour to figure it all out!
What a long way most of us have come...I say most because the amazing
Bruce Bowie still does not even own a cell phone. Maybe he's the
smartest of all!
But for those of you who do text and text fast, your everyday skill
could now win you prizes. July 18th to the 20th LG Electronics Canada
Canadian Texting Championships is coming to West Edmonton Mall.
Your entry is free and the finalists will compete for up to $25,000 in
cash and prizes including a $5000 trip for two to Mexico.
Personally I like talking to people better, even if it has to be on voicemail.
When I had my first baby my Grandma marvelled at all the gadgets she

We live in one of the greatest countries in the world. From one proud Canadian to others - Happy Birthday Canada! Hope you enjoy your July 1st!
To celebrate US, here are some of the things visitors noticed...from "An American's Guide to Canada":
- Restaurants serve vinegar with French fries.
- The CBC's national evening news anchor is bald and doesn't wear a toupee!
- At county fairs and other events red ribbons indicate first place and blue ribbons indicate second. (Canadians: it's the other way around in the States.)
-
There's hockey gear everywhere. A guy can get onto a bus wearing it and nobody gives him a second look.
-
There are lots and lots of do(ugh)nut shops.
-
People ask whether you'd like "a coffee" rather than "some coffee."
-
When you step on someone's foot, they apologize. (This really happened.)
-
There are billboards advertising vacations in Cuba, and Cuban cigars are freely ...

We're "gittin our summer on" as Sean would say. I took my son Cam to West 49 for new flip flops and when we got home he's taking the tags off and says, "COOL! I can put juice in my shoes!!!!"
What? I take a closer look and, well, the model is called Dram, one of the tiny carboard tags features a flask and the flip flops, made by Reef ,come with a fin key and screw cap to a polyurethane encapsulated canteen in the heel!
I don't think it's for JUICE! Ha ha ha, too funny. I may have to borrow those flip flops this summer...for juice - of course!

If you haven't seen the Body Worlds exhibit at Edmonton's Telus World of Science, GO!
Many people have asked me about it (I went to the media advance opening) and they are often surprised to learn the bodies ARE real, donated by people in life, willing to undergo plastination and be put on display in death.
The most breathtaking part of Body Worlds for me was the room about fetal development - new life. It is strikingly lit and a hush comes over all who enter. The tiny beings whose earthly remains are in the room are awe inspiring - a four week old fetus that is barely visible to a full term baby. But one cannot help remember they were once just like us or our children and sadly, for whatever reason, did not get to enjoy the full life we have.
The most prominent glass case features a pregnant ...

People still ask me about my old friend, the truly lovely AND talented Dawn Chubai. I got a funny email from her so I thought I would pass it along.
Dawn, who you may remember as the weather forecaster on the former A Channel in Edmonton, is now living in Vancouver and working at CityTV there. She handles weather and traffic on Breakfast Television, has hosted a weekend real estate show for the station and is currently enrolled in a food and travel writing course at UBC. She has an agent in Vancouver and has appeared in several TV commercials and movie productions. She still has that awesome voice, even sang the anthem at a BC Lions game last season. She left Edmonton to marry the manager of Point Grey Golf & Country Club, whom she met here in town when he worked for a local course.
The one thing I didn't ...

...and they start young too! This week my son, Matt ,who is in grade 5 took a message, he did really well but I had to laugh at what he added to the name and number.
"...call Sue back but not, like, you know, at 4 AM when you get up..." Ha ha ha! Thanks, hon!
My husband is not too bad at taking messages for me, but he deletes my email if I haven't checked the inbox in a few days! He's super-organized though and sure helps keep the household running and everyone where they need to be and when so I can't complain!
An email I DID get from a friend had this...thought it was cute! (Click on the magnifying glass icon to enlarge.)
Next week - Dawn Chubai Pied in the Face! An update from my old weather girl friend!

If you were listening to Bruce, Sean and The Waking Crew Tuesday morning you may have heard the fellas mention it seemed like a particularly wacky morning...difficult to imagine that even being possible, I know! But even Bruce, usually our steady captain at the helm, noticed he was feeling an extra zap of zany.
The only thing I could think of as the cause is a bit of new look Sean is sporting. Usually he wears a real dude's dude getup which includes one very well worked-in ball cap. However for two days in a row he has appeared wearing a Champ Car visor with mounds of gelled, curly hair bursting out the top. He doesn't look bad of course, just... well...different.
But then he takes the visor off for no apparent reason, and his hair is molded upwards giving his coif a striking resemblance to Bart Simpson's. Today's wasn't ...

My Saskatoon Weekend...
Guess what Roughriders fans? I spent the weekend in Rider Nation! I flew into Saskatoon right after the show Friday for my sons' hockey tournament and my cab driver said the Saskatchewan Roughriders had a great time practising in "toon town". The players were seen at lots of local restaurants and waterholes mingling with their fans. Apparently they were blown away by how beloved they are.
We spent ALL weekend at the hockey rink. I got a kick out of my 10 year old, Matt and his teammates as they were watching their older brothers play. The smallest player on the senior team is nicknamed "Moose". One of the younger boys piped up, "Hey, I don't have a nickname, I need a nickname!" Another jumped in right away and in pure good humour suggested, "How about weirdo!!!" The kids have a ball together and have really come together as a group on ...
