What a great nation we live in, time to celebrate it!
Here's a great website I had forwarded onto me that includes all of the events going on around the capital region.

recently Lisa Marie Presley whom was married briefly to Michael Jackson in the mid-90s made a post on her myspace in recollection of the time they were together. Given how so many people are comparing his death to that of Elvis's these are some chilling words from someone who was close to both those greats.
Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.
I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.
At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."
I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of ...

I found out shortly after I left work on Thursday that Michael Jackson passed away. I'm not someone who follows celebrities with much interest, if one passes...I typically don't feel much emotion. When I found out the King of Pop had passed away, I initially felt that it could not be true. I watched CNN intently and as more and more news sources confirmed his death. I got that sinking feeling, the feeling that someone of greatness had passed on.
Michael Jackson's popularity transcended music genres, he appealed to young and old, black, white. Thriller may have saved the record industry in the early 80s. No album will ever come close to the numbers it sold. He was a musical genius, he shaped all music into what it is today. His singing, his song writing, his choreography, his dancing was all second to none. No one person shaped pop culture ...

If you read my blog regularly, a few entries back I was talking about the rumours of Garth Brooks taking up long term residence at the Wynn Las Vegas. He performed a private show a couple weeks back...now word of another one. He's not helping to stop these rumours from spreading
In other news...I'm going to vegas in late August and early December...hopefully I catch him one of those times!

we've all heard of Jim Ballsillie's make it 7 campaign http://www.makeit7.ca/ to try and bring a 7th Canadian franchise to Canada. However, it seems he has stumbled in his attempt to bring the Coyotes to Hamilton.
I had someone e-mail me this website to me: http://www.makeit5.ca/
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ROGER JOLIE STATEMENT
Toronto (June 1st, 2009)
Mayor Miller and Council,
I’m writing to you about the state of mediocrity forced upon the good people of your city year after year.
Toronto has always been patient with their NHL franchise, but it’s time to do what’s best for Canada. Move them to the AHL.
We think it would be good for Toronto’s local economy, as a wide range of businesses, organizations and causes that would be supported by a strong NHL franchise in Toronto would no longer have to suffer in agony. This has always been my opinion.
Thank you for ...

Sunday was a great day out at Wabamun for CISN at The Lake. It was a very warm day though, and I figured I might as well try and cool off Chris Scheetz (who just also happens to be my boss) with a cooler full of ice water. Luckily, I had some help from some folks who distracted him, held the mic and filmed the action. Enjoy!

for all of those folks who have never gotten the chance to see Garth Brooks perform live (myself included) here's a rumour that would be a nice surprise.
First, I'll give you a little background. Danny Gans was a long time Vegas showroom act, who passed away back at the beginning of May. He was performing as the main showroom act at the Encore Las Vegas, which is the newest casino on the Vegas Strip (It opened around Christmas). Now the Encore is a very, very high end casino. It's adjacent to the Wynn Las Vegas, which is another high end casino. Both of these are owned by developer Steve Wynn. It's not a great idea to have your almost brand new very expensive casino without a big act to draw the masses in. Especially during a recession.
This is where Garth Brooks comes in. He has for years been ...

Shania Twain is as close to silent when it comes to her media presence as can be. Finally, she released a statement the other day through her website...
Dear Friends,
I am so excited to be writing to you personally again after so long.
First I want to apologize for the delay in releasing new music. Music is the basis of our relationship, after all, and I realize I'm not holding up very well on my end of the relationship! But music has a mind of it's own, and is ruled by a writer's emotions and state of mind, not by a time frame or wishful thinking. I wish like crazy that I had new music by now since I dream of how fun it would be to see you all again out on tour with new songs to sing, but as most of you know, I have been ...

So MC Hammer is back with a new show! Alright, it's not that exciting...the guy needs to make money one way or another. I have no plans to watch this show (it's on A&E incase you're wondering) but they released this promo for it...it's somewhat genius. Just imagine you're shopping at the mall when all of a sudden this breaks out....

Why does the double cheeseburger at Mcdonalds sometimes cost less than a single cheeseburger?
What is the attraction to the movie/book Twilight. It's a love story about Vampires, do you want to fall in love with someone who views you as lunch?
If baldness isn't attractive, why do some women want men to shave their chests?
Is it weird that I get a little grossed out when I see someone has left a newspaper in a bathroom stall? I know that thing has been in there when someone has been doing their business...and that's just not cool.
