You know the saying “time flies when you’re having fun?” That’s definitely the case with this! Rogers Place officially opened on September 8, 2016, but it was year ago yesterday (September 16), when Rogers Place opened its doors for their inaugural concert. I’ve created so many wonderful memories over the past year at Rogers Place.

Like many, it was my first time in Rogers Place because I wasn’t able to go to the Open House. Walking into Rogers Place for the first time was something else. ‘Awe’ would be the best way to describe it- I was in awe of how beautiful our new arena was. It was well worth the wait!
Keith Urban, Dallas Smith, and Maren Morris blew the crowd away- it was the perfect opening concert!
The second night at Rogers Place was just as good as the first! I’ve always wanted to see Dolly Parton and I didn’t know if I’d ever get the chance so I was definitely counting down to September 17. Dolly didn’t disappoint. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much at a show- she’s such a great storyteller!

The Edmonton Oil Kings held their 10th Annual Teddy Bear Toss game on December 10 when the Kamloops Blazers came to town. The Oil Kings ended up losing the game 3-2 but the real winner was 630 CHED Santas Anonymous- fans threw 13,942 teddy bears onto the ice! I had never been to a Teddy Bear Toss game before and it was mind-blowing. This year’s Teddy Bear Toss Game is Saturday, December 2 so mark your calendars and get your tickets!
The Edmonton Oilers first season in their new home ended with their first trip to the post-season in 11 long years. The playoff run was unreal. The Ticketmaster Gods were on my side and I somehow managed to buy a pair of tickets to Game 1 vs. San Jose. We lost the game in OT but wow, wow, wow. What an electric night it was.
Oilers fans had a lot of pent-up excitement to let off and what a journey it was. Yes, it a sad exit in the second round because we weren’t ready for their season to end but the future is bright and we’re counting down to the new season, which kicks off on October 4th when the Calgary Flames visit Rogers Place.

And we can’t forget about the technical difficulties that landed Rogers Place, the Edmonton Oilers, and Brett Kissel on all the major news outlets and celebrity sites, including TMZ!

Thomas Rhett brought his Home Team Tour to Rogers Place on May 5. Brett Young opened the show. I loved every second.

There were a lot of other great shows at Rogers Place that I went to but my ‘Show of the Year’ honours would have to go to Bruno Mars.

Bruno played two sold-out shows on July 30 and July 31. I had tickets to the second show, which was probably good because if I had tickets to the first show, I would have had to dip into my bank account to buy tickets for the second- his show was that amazing!
You might be thinking … ”Where’s Garth Brooks on this blog?!?!” I think I’m the only person in Edmonton and area that didn’t go to one of the 9 Garth shows at Rogers Place. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to- trust me, I did. I just had a terrible case of bad timing. I was in Mexico the entire time that Garth was in town (so don’t feel too sorry for me!). Looks like I missed out though!

I can’t wait to see what Year Two at Rogers Place will bring- I’m looking forward to making more incredible memories along the way!
