For the 17th time Rascal Flatts hits #1 with “Yours If You Want It” on CISN Country’s American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks.
Music City songwriter Andrew Dorff died last December at age 40, it left a gaping hole in the Nashville songwriting community, and also inspired the members of Rascal Flatts to give Dorff a posthumous #1 song. The Flatts released his “Yours If You Want It,” co-written with Jonathan Singleton, to radio the following month.
This week “Yours If You Want It” topped the country charts.” Its so humbling for us that the milestones keep coming, and it’s definitely not something that we take for granted,” said Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney in a statement. “I truly believe that this song found us, and to know that Andrew Dorff, with his passing, loved what we did with the song and that his legacy continues to live on is a blessing.”
Dorff, the brother of actor Stephen Dorff, was known for penning hits for Blake Shelton (“Neon Light”) and Kenny Chesney (“Save It for a Rainy Day”), among others. “Yours If You Want It” appears on Rascal Flatts’ latest studio album, Back to Us. The group will kick off its third Las Vegas residency “Rascal Flatts: A Night to Shine” on October 6th at the Venetian Theatre.
#YoursIfYouWantIt is #1! Country Radio and Flattheads, thank you so very much! We love you guys. This song was so special to us, Andrew Dorff, his entire family and @jdsingleton12. We truly believe that this song found us, and to know that Andrew Dorff, with his passing, loved what we did with the song and that his legacy continues to live on is a blessing. It was yours if you wanted it…and you made it. Thanks for our 17th #1!
