Before there was Derek and Matilda, there was Ben and Christine. And after 17 years of marriage, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor announced their separation yesterday (May 26).
In a joint statement released to ET, they said:
“With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,” Stiller and Taylor said. “Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”
Ben and Christine met in 1999 on the set of a Fox TV pilot called Heat Vision and Jack. Never heard of it? That’s because it never actually made it to air. But love blossomed, and Ben and Christine tied the knot in Hawaii in 2000 and had two children together- Ella and Quinlin.
They’ve also collaborated on the big screen since then, too! The funny duo stared together in Zoolander, Zoolander 2, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Tropic Thunder.
Not surprisingly, fans took to Twitter to tweet how sad they were over Derek and Matilda, I mean Ben and Christine, splitting.
Omg Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are splitting up! Nooo…they were so perfect 😭😭😭

I'm choosing to see the Ben Stiller/Christine Taylor sitch as just a delayed April Fools Joke.

If Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor can't make it, then is love even real?

Listen. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor were solid #MarriageGoals. After hearing the news, I feel like the world no longer makes sense.
