It was first reported by TMZ today and has now been confirmed by his publicist, that Rickles passed away today from kidney failure with his wife Barbara by his side. He and Barbara were married 52 years, he is also survived by his daughter Mindy, son-in-law Ed and grandchildren Ethan and Harrison. Rickles is best known for his appearances on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson and “The Dean Martin Show” as well as hanging out with Frank Sinatra.

“He was called ‘The Merchant of Venom,’ but in truth, he was one of the kindest, caring and most sensitive human beings we have ever known,” they said in a joint statement. “We are devastated and our world will never be the same. We were totally unprepared for this.” Celebrities have also started sharing their heartfelt goodbyes on social media.
“I think the reason that [my act] caught on and gave me a wonderful career is that I was never mean-spirited,” he once said. “Not that you had to like it, but you had to be under a rock somewhere not to get it.”
