Spring Break usually means Spring Cleaning! You take one look at your house and say “YIKES” – where did all this stuff come from??
It can be a daunting task – luckily I have a few easy ways to make your home yours again!
1.Give one thing away a day!
It can be so overwhelming to just look at everything and thing you have to tackle it all! But you don’t have to! Concentrate on giving one thing away a day and you will be surprised at how much you can get through -and how much “lighter” you will feel!
2. Do the 10-10-10 rule!
If you’re really in it to win it one weekend – adopt the 10-10-10 rule. Set aside 10 items to donate, 10 items to sell and 10 item to throw away. Before you know it – BAM- that’s 30 items all cleared away!
3. Dump It!
This is my husband Bob’s favorite way of decluttering. Our junk drawer gets dumped once a year right on the floor. It forces me to tackle it haha. I hate it but after I feel so good after; and that junk drawer always looks so organized after. You see everything laid right out on the floor and you decide – do I really need this?
4. Just fill one trash bag
If you are having a really hard time, just take one bag. Just fill one bag and you are on your way! Once that bag is done – stop! You’re further ahead than before 🙂
5. Hangers can help you!
I saw this on Oprah – but it really does work! Put all of your clothes facing one way in your closet. Once you have worn it – face it the other way on the hanger. Re-assess in a few months and you quickly see which tops / pants you are wearing and which ones are still in the same place you left them months ago!
I hope this helps! Take all or one of these points and guaranteed you are in for some very satisfying spring cleaning! Goodwill is a great resource ! When you donate to them- you are helping your community 🙂
Now excuse me while I clean out the latest junk drawer to be dumped haha
: ) xoxo Jacks
