Well – we did it! And when I say “we” I mean it – it is no small feat for anyone to go back to work after a significant amount of time off. It takes a circle of people – husbands, wives, partners, friends – listeners.
Thank you to YOU for making my first week back at CISN Country magical. Obviously I am not the first mom to go back to work and try this whole mom-work life balance. But it sure felt like it. HOW THE HECK DO YOU DO IT?
On my way to work Monday morning – my first day back – I almost had to pull over to puke from anxiety. And then I cried. And then I laughed. And then cried again. So many emotions. I was like the whole emoji keyboard. 🙂 🙁 😮 😀
And then I slowly got back into the groove. Realized – oh yeeeahhhh I remember how to do this. Of course with some big changes. Never did I think I would leave the boys every morning at 9am to go and pump and then come back and we would all laugh and make milk jokes . Don’t worry – I’m not offended they are friendly jokes and that’s the funny – weird- too much information – relationship we have .
But speaking of that – for the first two days I was pumping in the bathroom. I talked about this on my Instagram Story (@Jacks1313) ….. we have a great bathroom here – I didn’t feel banished there I actually chose to pump in there haha Well – CISN heard about this and was like
“ Ummmmm NO Jack you are not pumping in there – here’s an office for you to be comfortable in- and some water bottles and anything else you may need. “
Now that’s pretty cool.
Of course – as nursing moms it is our right to have a comfortable, safe and clean place. But let’s be real – talking about your boobs to your boss or anyone for that matter can sometimes be awkward lol. But not here. Thank you CISN and Corus – appreciate it! Plus I like bragging to Chris and Matt about my new freedom of not wearing a shirt at work and it being encouraged (within reason lol).
When I get home – there is nothing better than going in for a giant hug from Kennedy (which is forced cause she is 4 months old and doesn’t even know she has arms) I swear your kids get cuter the longer you are away from them. I never thought I would be the parent that asks for photos all morning long or asks what your kids are doing ( even though you know they are sleeping). Well here I am.
The biggest “Eat My Words” girl on the planet.
Big news this week was the extension of Parental Leave. Now parents can take up to 18 months. This speaks to us – we are living this right now. It’s a tough decision – who stays home and for how long. Now this allows a bit more flexibility. Bob ( my husband) is on parental leave from the rigs right now – talk about a change in daily duties! And its so awesome. For us – this was a really great choice 🙂 Hopefully this gives you and your family a bit of relief too.
And – turns out- I’m still caring for children; now back on the Morning Show with Chris and Matt 😉 . We’re in a really neat spot right now……Chris is remembering his great times being a dad to young children ; I’m right in the mess of it all ; and I think Matt is TERRIFIED of what’s to come when he has kids!
I forgot how much fun these mornings can be. Thank you for all of your texts, emails and messages of encouragement. YOU are the reason I was able to survive this week….and be so excited to be back!
