It all started on accident when Martin, a writer and editor, noticed a client was being unusually rude and dismissive one day. He realized his email signature had accidentally been showing as his coworker Nicole’s.
Martin realized the companies shared inbox made his email signature Nicole’s instead of his, so he reached out to that rude client to say he’d be “taking over the project from Nicole”
That’s when Martin decided on an experiment…he and Nicole would simply switch email signatures for 2 weeks to see what happened. “I was in hell. Everything I asked or suggested was questioned. Clients I could do in my sleep were condescending. One asked if I was single.” says Martin.
