Remember last week when Eric Gryba from the Edmonton Oilers shaved his beard after raising over 20,000 for the Teammates for Kids foundation?
100% of donations to Garths Brook’s Teammates for Kids foundation go directly to providing scholarships for underprivileged kids, allowing them to go to ProCamp Sports Camps which are hosted by pro athletes. “Other than being a dad, this is the most important work I’ve ever gotten to do in my life.” said Brooks. Saturday afternoon, Garth teamed up with former Oiler Ryan Smyth to host a ProCamp for 60 kids here in YEG from the Boys and Girls Clubs and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
“It’s everything to me. It was junior high, it was high school. I was lucky enough to wear a college uniform. It’s a sense of family… We treat the whole tour like it’s a team. We’re a family and that’s what this is. It’s about being part of something that’s bigger than you could ever be by yourself… That’s what a teammate is for me.”
