Kristy Blackwell is a 6th grade teacher who recently was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer. After she was first diagnosed, she came back to school to teach her students and her colleagues said it was like nothing had changed. “She came every day with a big happy big smile on her face and did her job just like normal, and teaching takes a lot out you,” said fellow teacher Kara O’Rourke. Blackwell started her treatments in September, so she hasn’t been able to teach, but her students wanted to let her know they were with her every day…so they have made cards, bracelets and started a GoFundMe page. Last week, her students took a little field trip…to her house, to bring her some holiday cheer!
