Kim De Gagne was diagnosed with terminal bone and blood cancer about 3 years ago. One of Kim’s big dreams is to take his wife Alana on a trip to Hawaii while he still can. “she works 12, 14 hours a day, then comes home, takes care of me…she deserves this trip more than I do.” Unfortunately, he couldn’t afford to do so because his sole source of income is selling Christmas trees and sadly, sales weren’t great last year and were looking bad again this season. That’s when our friends at Global News shared Kim’s story.
After it aired, Kim’s story went viral. Since then, trees have continued to sell out on his lot, but people have also been coming by with donations for Kim and Alana. The biggest donation came Sunday night, when Kim’s dad brought a guest, who wishes to remain anonymous, over for dinner. That guest handed Kim an envelope with a Christmas miracle inside. “Merry Christmas! Congratulations Kim & Alanna DeGangne! You have been granted your WISH to travel to Hawaii. Your trip will include roundtrip airfare from Calgary to Maui, 7-10 nights accommodation and car rental. Your trip has a value of up to $6500.00. Courtesy of your Calgarian Friends!”
