Susan Harty was understandably worried May 3rd when she and fiance Scott Langenhoff were forced to evacuate their home in Fort McMurray. Like over 88,000 others, they had to flee in a moments notice, but Susan had an extra worry that day…she started feeling contractions while heading North. “I thought for sure Scott was going to have to deliver the baby,” says Harty. Luckily for the couple, Scott didn’t have to spring into action because Susan was airlifted to deliver baby Deegan here in YEG. That’s where local photographer Charyssa Shippit comes in. Like you and I, Shippit was glued to the coverage of the wildfire and evacuations. After donating to the Red Cross, she was looking for another way to help out and thanks to Facebook, was connected to new parents Susan and Scott.
