From Wednesday to Friday last week, the back parking lot here at Corus Radio was transformed into a massive drop off location for the Edmonton Food Bank and Red Cross. We asked CISN listeners, Fresh listeners, CHED listeners and iNews listeners to help us help #FeedTheFort. Our neighbors who had to evacuate Fort McMurray needed our help, and YOU pulled through in a way that none of us could’ve imagined. Nine Rosenau transport trailers were jam packed with non-perishable food items, water, diapers, and personal items. Thank you SO much for all your donations, volunteer hours and calls and texts asking how to help. The final numbers are in and I am so damn proud of this city!
Corus Radio Edmonton #FeedTheFort
95,699 kg or 210,980 lbs of food, water and toiletries were collected for Edmonton’s Food Bank to be distributed throughout Alberta for those in need following this disaster.
Cheques and gift cards to Edmonton’s Food Bank totaled $1,785
And while our main push was for non-perishables, we also collected the following unsolicited donations…
Cash & Cheques to the Canadian Red Cross: $17,702.75
Matched by Prov & Fed gov’t that is: $53,111.25
Various Gift Cards we received will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House who will disperse to evacuees: $1,170
We also delivered over 9 pallets of new toiletries, new socks, new underwear, new pillows & bedding etc. to the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services Society.
Thanks to Rosenau Transport Ltd and others that supplied trailers, to the Canadian Armed Forces and countless volunteers that helped along the way, to Global Edmonton for their wonderful coverage and to all staff that worked tirelessly to make this happen.
