One officer with the Canton Police Department in Ohio has received thousands of letters since January…
Ryan Davis was teamed up with “Jethro”, his K-9 partner, when he was just 8 months old. “Jethro” passed away after sustaining gunshot wounds while responding to a burglary call at a grocery store. As you might imagine, Davis was distraught. The K-9 companions are more than just police dogs…they are family. Donations and letters started flowing in…and among the pile, Davis noticed the note below from young Allison.
After hearing the news, Allison decided she’d pass along her allowance to help pay for bullet-proof vests for the dogs. This story is so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time – maybe it’s because I hope to one day have a child just like Allison, or maybe it’s because my little fur baby is named “Jethro” as well.
