Taylor Swift’s first full-length pop album is nearing it’s release as 1989 will drop October 27th in store and on-line. It was the latter option that gave Taylor yet another #1…
“Shake It Off”, the album’s lead single, had quick success after it’s release and Taylor has since been working hard in promoting the album. We’ve seen some lyrics surface and two promotional singles released as “Welcome to New York” and “Out of the Woods” are both available on iTunes now. Back to the title…you’re curious which of those went to #1 right? Neither!
That’s right! The mysterious “Track 3″ was released for download to iTunes users in Canada due to a technical glitch yesterday(October 22nd). The song cannot be downloaded any longer, but in the short time it was available the demand for Taylor’s new music is so great that her fans pushed “Track 3″, a clip of nothing more than silence for eight seconds, to the #1 spot on the iTunes chart.
Considering it’s a few minutes of actual sound, there should be no surprise that “Shake it Off” has already reached Double Platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) having sold over 2 Million units.
