Like most weekends, especially throughout the summer, I spend a lot of time attending music festivals and live concerts. The more the better. Usually they’re country shows. Sometimes they’re not. But this weekend proved that no matter what “type” of show you go to, country music, in some form, is everywhere!
For the better part of Saturday and some of Sunday I was attending an alternative rock festival. I literally knew 2 bands the whole weekend. One of those bands was The Smalls. Ever heard of them? Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t but do you know who the bass player for The Smalls is? It’s non-other than Alberta-boy Corb Lund! Yes, you heard me right. Corb Lund’s in a rock band and he’s darn great in it!
Also this weekend, you may have heard that Katy Perry rolled through town. I’m not going to lie, I love Katy Perry. Love her tunes, love her, love that she’s a great roll model for her younger fans. But who opened the show for this massive pop star? Country-gal Kacey Musgraves! I think both gals are great, so I was interested to see what it would be like going to a pop show, with a country opening act. It was amazing!! Kacey is WONDERFUL live and the sold out crowd loved her! Of course Katy’s show was spectactular too. So many rainbows…
Friday night (September 5) CMT Crossroads with Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves finally airs in Canada and I will definitely be watching! Both girls are so unique in their own ways that they’re almost similar. If that makes any sense. Anyway, the show airs this Friday on CMT! Enjoy.
