Miranda Lambert is #1

/ CISN Country

Billboard’s Top 200 all-genre album chart began in 1956.  Since then only ten female country artists have ever held down the chart’s #1 spot.

Make it eleven.  According to Nielson SoundScan, in it’s first week, Miranda Lambert’s Platinum sold 179 000 units, becoming Miranda’s biggest sales week ever and pushing Platinum to the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums.

As such, Platinum also holds down the #1 Country Album this week, knocking Brantley Gilbert’s Just As I Am from the top spot.  When Miranda goes to sleep tonight she’ll likely have #1′s dancing around in her dreams, as “Automatic” is also the Top Country Song for the week.

Platinum, released June 3rd, is the fifth studio album from Miranda and becomes her fifth straight #1 album on the country charts.  ”Automatic” became Miranda’s fourth #1 single(not counting “We Were Us” with Keith Urban.)
