Former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, surprised patrons of Nashville‘s famous Bluebird Cafe last night (May 7th) with a surprise acoustic performance. “My name is Dave Grohl. I’m a drummer,” the Foo Fighters front man announced as he took the stage in front of a crowd of about 100.

Grohl’s set included acoustic versions of the Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These“, “My Hero“, and “Learn to Fly” and was said to have lasted about an hour, ending shortly after 8 pm.

“The heart and soul of this city is in the music and the musicians,” said Dave. “It is an honor to be here .”

The surprise appearance followed his show with the Foo Fighters in Washington, D.C. on Monday night, although the reason for his visit to Nashville is still a mystery.

Grohl performed with the Zac Brown Band at the 2013 CMA Awards and the two have since recorded studio collaborations that eventually lead to the band’s The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1. The four track EP was released in December and will be available in a CD/DVD package later this month.
