I know I’ve said this on the air at least 100 times in the last week, but I’m going to say it again…I’m OBSESSED with Dan & Shay’s album “Where It All Began”. If you’re thinking, who the heck are Dan & Shay? Well, you’ve probably heard their first single on CISN called “19 You & Me”. I like that song. I’d hear it on the Kingsley countdown on Saturday mornings, then I’d start to hear it more on the weekends, then all the time. I can’t get enough!
I finally popped the album into my CD player (yes, I still have a few of those that I use regularly) and that was it! I was hooked. At the risk of sounding strange…their sound reminds me of Savage Garden. Remember them from the 90’s? I looooved them. Actually, I still do. “Ooooh I want you I don’t know if I need you but, ooooh I’d die to find out…”. Sorry.
I don’t want to make them sound like they’re trying to sound like someone else, but I hear so many difference influences in their music (whether they were intended or not). Like I said, the similarities between Dan & Shay and Savage Garden is crazy. I also hear a lot of Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, and there’s even a song on there that I think could have been a Hedley song. I love it!
If you’re looking for a real country album, this isn’t it. Lyrically, I think it is. Musically, it’s a little more countrified than Savage Garden. But you know what? It sounds really great cranked on your car speakers on a sunny day, windows down, singing at the top of your lungs. Yep, it’s one of those albums!
Also, I haven’t confirmed this, but I read somewhere that they’re on Blake Shelton’s “Ten Times Crazier Tour”. Guess where that show will be on July 23rd of this year? Ooooh yes, Rexall Place baby!! Fingers crossed that they’re one of the opening acts!
