Today for the 11th year, TIME Magazine released it’s list of “The 100 Most Influential People“. Among this diverse group of individuals was country sweetheart and former American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood. The six-time Grammy Award winner is recognized for her activism through involvement with organizations like The Red Cross and for animal rights advocacy.
The list includes 99 other individuals, including Beyonce, Seth Myers, and Serena Williams, and recognizes the various ideas, visions, and actions that help shape our world.
The issue features 100 honorees and the guest contributors enlisted to write on their behalf. For Carrie, long time friend and colleague, Brad Paisley, was selected to guest write on her profile.
“I remember Carrie Underwood early on telling me how badly she wanted to earn her place in our industry. It was 2005, and she had just won American Idol and had her first No. 1 song. Fast-forward to 2014. Not only has she earned her place, she’s also raised the bar: she’s a prolific songwriter, a trendsetter and an Opry member. ” says Paisley.
“So many young girls want to be just like her. In that sense, I see hope for the world. If I had a daughter, nothing would make me happier than to hear her say she wanted to grow up to be like Carrie Underwood.”
Carrie is set to headline the TIME 100 Gala on April 29th in New York City.
