Billy Ray Cyrus is all set to display his acting chops on the soon to be released independent film, Like a Country Song.
The film, which premieres in Nashville on June 5 to coincide with the launch of the annual CMA Music Fest, is a story of the rise and fall of an aspiring singer, Jake Reeson, whose growing ego gets in the way of his promising music career. Bo Reeson, Jake’s father and a country singer in his own right, will be played by Billy Ray.
Cyrus, who also lends his voice to the title song for the film, told Country Weekly the chance to do some real acting again led him to the project. Of course he’s no stranger to the big, or small screen, having appeared in films like Mulholland Drive and The Spy Next Door as well as television shows like Doc and alongside his daughter on Disney’s Hannah Montana.
