You’ve probably seen this going around Facebook – ladies posting pictures of themselves without makeup, and nominating other ladies to do the same…
The trend started in the UK to raise funds and awareness for cancer, but is now catching on in a huge way in Canada. The idea of raising awareness for cancer is still one of the underlying reasons, but it’s also being used as a tool to empower women!
Personally I’m someone who loves social media, but let’s be honest-how many of us ONLY post pictures that we think we look great in? Use a filter on a picture to make us look our best? Un-tag ourselves from pictures that we think make us look terrible?
When we only let others see the ‘best version’ of ourselves, we’re essentially only sharing our personal ‘highlight reel’. We’re all humans. We all have flaws-we don’t walk around cropped, filtered and enhanced! It’s refreshing to see the brave women in my life post pictures of themselves the way they REALLY look.
Sooo…I dare ya! Post your own #NoMakeupSelfie! Maybe you don’t ever wear makeup-maybe you don’t ever let anyone see you without it. Either way, it’s empowering, for a great cause, and I promise-not nearly as scary as you may think!
