Our resident health & fitness expert Brooke Lazor joined us once again this morning giving us some tips to help shed some of those holiday pounds. This time around, Brooke talk about the most important meal of the day, breakfast. Or more specifically, that morning coffee many of us have. I had no idea how much sugar and cream are actually in a drive-thru coffee and how bad it can be for you. To put it in perspective, she said large bowl of ice cream has less calories, and some people have many coffee’s a day!
But don’t worry, she gave several tips on how to cut the calories while still enjoying your morning brew.
1. Get your sugar and cream on the side. The amount in your cup they put in is WAY more than a single serving packet.
2. Substitute cream and sugar when you can. Milk can be a good way to replace cream, honey, and a natural product like stevia can be swapped in for sugar.
3. Stay away from sweeteners. Although they may not contain any sugar, they make you hungry and can have an adverse effect on your appetite, and make you crave sugar even more.
Even if you do a couple of the tips listed, you’ll be able to see and feel the difference in your life in no time without having to cut coffee out of your diet!
